Welcome

My interest in Jewish genealogy started with trying to find out what happened to my grandmother Mina Cohen nee Marcus who perished in the Holocaust. I then moved on to finding out more about my family history. The families included are Cohen, Schoonhoed, Marcus, Duis, Silverman and many more. They came from all over Europe, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Russia and Poland with diverse occupations: inn-keepers, merchants, cigar makers, undertakers, tailors and even an acrobat.

Noticing that so many branches ended with the Holocaust I have tried to include as many members of these families as possible and in particular studied the Schoonhoed's. As a result of that research I also created a Boas family tree. Both my tree (Gaby’s Cohen tree) and the 'Boas tree' are searchable on this site. Details of living relations are not included.

During my research, I have found information that may be helpful to others, see Feature Articles.
